This week, Eric again speaks to the controversy between the United Methodist Church and Highland Park UMC in Dallas.
He refers to this second essay, and suggests that TRUST, or lack of it, is a fundamental issue.
Then, Eric turns to this weekend in Dallas and our nation.
Several things are happening, all at once:
1. The 25-year anniversary of 911…and the call to “Never Forget.”
2. A Republican Convention in Dallas, calling back to the 1984 Convention here.
3. Anti-Muslim hate, both now, and in the post 911 world.
Eric’s key question for us all is not to doubt that we should “Never Forget.”
But to ask the deeper question
“WHAT do we choose to ‘Never Forget?’”

Because what and how we remember is a choice. This week’s Republican Convention is attempting to “call back” to the 1984 convention, while simultaneously re-stirring anti-Muslim hate.
ClearDFW will respond with a vigil on Friday at various mosques in Collin and Denton County.
